In The Writer's Corner…
At present I am about 40 something pages into a new script for Nasser Entertainment. It is a bit different than anything I have written. I am looking forward to seeing what happens with it.
I was recently asked to adapt a book into a screenplay. Basically, I met a producer in a bar in Las Vegas. He and I got to talking and I told him I am would love to write something for him. He contacted me recently about a book his friend wrote. I read the book and now I am just waiting for an agreement so I can get started on the adaptation.
I am currently finishing up a new outline for Saddleback Press. It is for a book tentatively titled, AS IF IT WERE NEVER DONE. Once this outline is approved the writing will commence. Above is the cover for the first book I did for them. It is titled SCREAMING QUIETLY. Click the images to order!
Sadly, I have had to slow up on the LADY AND THE CHAMP rewrite because I have other projects that have to take precedence.
I have basically animated the first ten pages of INSECT. I am presently on Spring Break and I hope to get another 5 more drawn. We will see… I am really going to work hard to finish the animation portion of the movie by the end of Summer.
My book DOWN FOR HIS CRIMES which will now, most likely, be titled SEEKER, is done and I am about to start rewriting it. I did a version of the cover but due to a technical glitch I need to redo it. With the outline for AS IF IT WAS NEVER DONE almost completed, I am on pace to meet (and maybe exceed) my self-imposed 4 books a year delivery schedule for Ronni's Books. Eventually, it will be 8 books a year… and hopefully 12 at some point.
DV looks like it will be getting a self-release sometime in the next 2 months. You can find out more about it here.
Best,
Evan Jacobs

Currently working on a new outline for another project with Nasser Entertainment. I am grateful that they are always giving me opportunities.
I turned in the rewrite of the SHADOW screenplay. It was very well received. Now it is just a matter of casting the movie and shooting the extra scenes that need to be shot. I am very excited about this.
SCREAMING QUIETLY is done as far as I can tell. I will be posting the cover for it next month. They were also very receptive to my outline for another book! So… it looks like we'll be doing another one together.
The LADY AND THE CHAMP rewrite is moving along solidly. My plan is still to have it done in the next 2 months.
I am really going to ramp up my work on INSECT. My plan now is to have a rough cut of it done by August. Should that prove to be too hard, I at least want to have it animated (and editing started) by then.
My first book, DOWN FOR HIS CRIMES, under my self imposed "4 books a year" doctrine is about half way done. I am going to start working on the cover and it should be out in the next couple of months. Then it is on to the next one.
DV is done. I am currently showing it to distributors. You can find out more about it here.
See you next month,
Evan Jacobs
Again… this is late!!
Try as I might the new months keep starting and I keep forgetting to post the news. I am going to do my best to shake this habit.
Above is an image of all my films that are available from Amazon Instant Video. You can watch them on your TV, your iPad, iPhone, iPod, Kindle and a bunch of other mobile devices. It really is incredible to me how easily available these movies are on such major formats. When I first got started making these movies this wasn't the case.

I hit a career milestone. Here is my first mention in THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/randy-couture-scott-adkins-starring-418016
I believe DISTANT SHORE shoots in March.
I am currently shooting ideas back and forth with the development folks at NASSER ENTERTAINMENT we are looking to get another film going.
I am also rewriting the SHADOW script for them. There are plans afoot to reshoot and add some stuff. I have never made a movie at this level so it is interesting how the process works.
I am about to turn in the 5th draft of my young adult fiction book SCREAMING QUIETLY to Saddleback Press. I am also outlining a new book for them as well.
Still rewriting LADY AND THE CHAMP. It is slow in the going but it should be completed within the next 2 months.
INSECT is also moving along but at a snail's pace. I should have the first 10 pages (of the 94 page script) drawn soon. Eventually, my work rate on this project will get more intense and that is when it will be completed.
Outlined a new book titled DOWN FOR HIS CRIMES that I plan to write. It is the first of many books that will be 25,000 words, written quickly, and released in hardcopy and the digital form from my imprint RONNI'S BOOKS. My plan is to do 4 books a year.
The quickie horror film I made, DV, will be finished with editing by the end of this month. It will now be available on DVD and VOD by the end of March. For more information on it please visit:

Once again this is late!
I am sorry. This is a weird time and I would be lying if I said that it wasn't. Basically, I am trying to clean out my house, decide if I am going to stay here or downsize to a condo, write scripts, books, make an animated movie and make quick live action movies.
To quote Roger Corman, "I am on overload."
However… nothing lasts forever and I will eventually sort through all this. As long as I keep working on my projects that will keep me centered and sane.

Saddleback
Press has given me the rewrite notes for THE NORMAL BROTHER. All very positive and with mild changes. I have made them and I am about to turn in my second draft. Also, the title has changed. The book will now be called SCREAMING QUIETLY.
The first draft of my new boxing screenplay LADY AND THE CHAMP is done! I am currently rewriting it and it should be ready to show in about two months.
Sadly, INSECT
is still slow in the going. I have only animated about 6 pages so far. The
screenplay is 94. I was hoping to use a lot of my recent vacation time to get further along, but it just wasn't possible. I didn't want to drive myself crazy trying to get it done so I didn't work on it as much as I should've. INSECT is becoming more of a priority and I am fairly certain I will start making more headway with it. (Above is a recent image from INSECT.)
I am about done rewriting my
shlock-type screenplay titled FALLING APART.
Once that is done I plan to go into overdrive with my book writing. I am currently working on a
young adult fiction/horror book titled WARREN. It is
based on a screenplay I have written. After that, I have literally 8-10 books (many of them are part of a series based on my AWESOME MONSTER BASHERS screenplay) that I plan to write. And, there's more to come after that! These
books will be available in hardcopy as well as eBook form.
Lastly,
I shot a quick, microbudget, 2 day film titled D/V. I plan to edit it this month and make it available on DVD and Video On Demand in February.
2013 is going to be a busy and productive year!
See you next month,
Evan Jacobs
Hello!!
I am very sorry this is late. I am still deciding whether I am going to keep my parent's home and make it my own or downsize to a condo. In addition to this I am taking care of my father's affairs. This stuff gets overwhelming at times, things get jumbled, and that is why this post is late.

Saddleback Press was extremely positive about the draft I recently turned in of my new book THE NORMAL BROTHER. I am awaiting notes from the editor but things seem really positive. It also looks like I am going to write more books for them!
My new boxing screenplay, LADY AND THE CHAMP, is coming along splendidly. I should have a first draft by the end of this month. After that it will be rewritten and then it's on to the next one.
INSECT is still slow in the going. I have animated about 6 pages so far. The screenplay is 94. I have some time off coming up and it is my goal to have 30 pages animated by January 6th. That is a bit lofty BUT if I come close (say 25 pages) I will be very happy.
I am also rewriting a shlock-type screenplay called FALLING APART as well as writing a new young adult fiction book titled, WARREN. WARREN, a horror story, is based on a screenplay I have written.
The experience of writing THE NORMAL BROTHER was so great that I have decided to write 4 books a year. I have this system worked out where the weeks are divided up and I think this is a very attainable goal. The first book in this series is tentatively titled THE MOTHCATCHER and then I plan to start THE AWESOME MONSTER BASHERS series which is based on a screenplay I wrote. These books will be available in hardcopy as well as eBook form.
Lastly, I have a quick, microbudget, 2 day film shoot scheduled for 21st and 22nd of this month. It will be a found footage horror movie called SOUL OF THE DEAD.
See you next month,
Evan Jacobs
Hello!!
The scene above is from my new, animated, horror film titled INSECT. It is truly surreal to be making a film about death, loss, and rebirth while I am actually going through what the character in the movie is going through! More on that below...

In the Writer's Corner…
I recently turned in a new screenplay to Nasser Entertainment. It is currently going through the rewrite process and in that process became something a bit more interesting. I was always so scared of "writing by committee." While I believe that some projects are immune to that process and better off having a singular voice, there are others that certainly benefit. That seems to have been the case here.
I was hit a burst of inspiration regarding script outlines. So, I took some time and just focused on fine-tuning them. I am about to resume the business of typing up/rewriting my new boxing script, LADY AND
THE CHAMP. In the process, I also came up with some ideas for even more projects.
SHADOW is in the process of being rewritten as it looks like we are going to do some reshoots.
My young adult
novel titled THE NORMAL BROTHER (which I am writing for Saddleback Educational Publishing), was approved in the outline phase. I then set about writing and the first draft should be done and turned in by the middle of the month. I am really excited about this because it is the first book I have written that has a publisher behind it.
INSECT
is coming along very slowly. I am taking my time getting into my groove and once that happens everything will come together. The script is 94 pages. I have broken it up into 3 chunks of 30 pages or so, just so the task of animating it isn't so daunting.
Thank you to everybody for their kind wishes regarding my father passing away. I am somebody who has always tried to keep his life simple because my main focus was being creative. I now have new responsibilities that, for the time being, are sort of encroaching on that time.
Thankfully, I am someone with good time management skills.
Eventually, I will get all of my dad's affairs in order and behind me. I will also most likely be in a new living situation. As long as I keep working hard, taking care of myself and, most importantly, believing in myself... everything will be fine.
