In the Writer’s Corner…

I am about done with the new book for Saddleback Publishing’s Gravel Road series. Also, the writing for the new series I am working on goes well, too! Also, I have a put a bunch of pitches together that I am about to send over to them. I am very excited to see what happens!

NIGHT HIKE is on hold. I have done this because I am writing a new book and a series for Saddleback AT THE SAME TIME. Okay, admittedly this is a great problem to have. I can’t complain. I love having more work than less. NIGHT HIKE will resume in July.

BOOM! The new longhand screenplay I am writing is at about 30 pages. My plan is to write this as a big, 1980s terrorist thriller and then rewrite it as very contained terrorist thriller. Basically, I am going to go big and then scale things down considerably so it is a low-budget action/thriller.

It looks like the screenplay I turned in to CINEMA EPOCH will become a movie. It just needs a rewrite or two. It looks like I will just write and star in this film and somebody else will direct. More on this as it unfolds.

Well, DV4: ELECTRIC NIGHTMARES was recently made and it takes the series in whole different direction. Also, it looks like the whole DV series is going to be titled BETAMAX. So, in actuality, DV4 is now called BETAMAX 4: ELECTRIC NIGHTMARES. In the first three films the DV camera was the killer. Now, the killer is… a tablet! Also, THE RIVERBED will be made this summer, too! Work on COOL SUMMER will resume once BETAMAX 4 is edited.

So far summer is shaping up to be extremely interesting. A lot of changes happening or on the horizon. We will have to see where all these goes. One thing is a constant, the work will continue to get done!

In the Writer’s Corner…

Writing a new book for Saddleback Publishing's Gravel Road series. I am also writing a whole other 10 book series for them AND I plan to pitch them a bunch of new stuff next month.

NIGHT HIKE is about halfway rewritten. I am just a bit busy with my other writing duties at present. Sadly, I can’t give it the the TLC that it needs but I am trying. It will get done. It just might take a little longer.

The longhand screenplay that I writing titled BOOM is going well. I work on it a little bit each day. It is a terrorist thriller that speaks to some of the issues millennial's face as they enter the workforce.

I turned in an old screenplay to CINEMA EPOCH in the hopes of it becoming another film for them. I also sent them back a harddrive with 20 or so of my movies on it for them to release. They have some interesting ideas that I think could make the films more marketable.

Planning to make THE RIVERBED my Qwik Anhedenia Film of the summer. I am also about to get back to work on COOL SUMMER.

This summer is shaping up to be busy and interesting and that is just the way I like it.

In the Writer’s Corner…

The new series for Saddleback Publishing goes well. I am about to start a new book for their Gravel Road series. On top of that I am planning to pitch them more projects for the future.

The rewriting of NIGHT HIKE is going well. The trick with this script is to keep it entertaining, fun, campy and contained.

I have started my next longhand screenplay titled BOOM. This is a terrorist thriller that speaks to some of the issues millennial's face as they enter the workforce. It is fairly outrageous but, you never know, that just might be what it takes to get this screenplay made.

Currently working with Cinema Epoch on a very interesting idea. I would say more but it involves an old movie that they own. I should know more about where this is going next month!

THE PARK is done! I am about to send it (and a bunch of my other films) off to Cinema Epoch so they can distribute them. Now, it is back to work on COOL SUMMER. However, before I do that I am planning on changing my work space. I’d like to make it more ergonomic and primarily work standing yup. I am also working on a Qwik Film to shoot this summer called THE RIVERBED. I plan to only make one a year until COOL SUMMER is complete.

Anyway… more on that later. I am just happy that everything is going well. I am meeting my project commitments and I am working on things I love.

In the Writer's Corner...

I am still working on the new series for Saddleback Publishing. I am about 4 books in and it’s going to be 10 in total. It is going really well. It is a mix of sci-fi, horror, urban legends, and a bunch of other fun stuff.

At present I am rewriting NIGHT HIKE. The issue is that the script is about 60 pages. I need to add some scenes and subplots. Then, I need to make it coherent. Sadly, that is usually where my scripts falter.

I have finished a longhand version of a mumblecore-esque script called WHERE THE OTHERS WENT. It is about a bunch of friends that used to play in punk bands, getting together to put on a benefit show for a sick friend. I am going to shelve it now. Then I am going to write another one called BOOM. Eventually, I am going to type one or all of these ups, I just wanted to be generating more scripts.

Up above are the new covers for DV2 and DV3! Cinema Epoch has done a bang up job so far with my stuff. I can’t wait to see what they do with THE FORMING and THE RECKONING.

I am editing this movie called THE PARK. It is essentially CLERKS meets JURASSIC PARK. I might be done with it in the next two weeks. Then it is on to COOL SUMMER until all the animations are drawn. I just need to get an ergonomic desk.

In the Writer's Corner...

Currently figuring out the overall arc of this new series for Saddleback Publishing. In addition to that, I am doing research for these new books I am going to be writing for them. They are all young adult fiction but I want to make them as “real” as I can.

NIGHT HIKE is being rewritten. In fact, to aide me in this process I am reading the script for ALIEN. I want NIGHT HIKE to be really contained and ALIEN is about as contained as it gets.

I’ve started a new script called WHERE THE OTHERS WENT. It is about a bunch of friends that used to play in punk bands, getting together to put on a benefit show for a sick friend. My plan (in addition to the main scripts I always work on) is to write other scripts longhand (1 page daily), so I can keep new scripts constantly generating.

Sending CINEMA EPOCH two more films for them to release. I think they are releasing 20 or so of my films. They have some interesting ideas and I am really excited to see them happen. Above is the image for the DV release on VUDU!

One of those films is now called THE RECKONING. It is a prequel to my film THE FORMING. It will be finished and available on DVD shortly. Then I start work on my newest animated film COOL SUMMER. However, I plan to make one of my “qwik” films every year until it is finished being animated.

In the Writer's Corner...

The writing of my new series for Saddleback Publishing is going great. I always get nervous that I might run out of ideas but, somehow, someway they always seem to come. I honestly feel very lucky and fortunate that this is the case. Also, recently signed another contract to write 4 more books for Saddleback. I am truly humbled by all the faith they put in me. I just need to to keep writing, working and trying to come up with new stories to tell.

I almost have the first draft of NIGHT HIKE done. This one is being written in a very contained way. It is the story of a comet hitting earth and the effect that it has on a family who run a nearby lodge. At present, I just need to add about 3-4 more action sequences.

I recently found out that Cinema Epoch licensed the DV Trilogy and some of my other films to Vudu! I am so excited about this. Since I started making movies in 1995, all I have ever wanted is for my films to be able to be seen by the widest possible audience. And on that note, you can watch my film SALVO 1 here.

TIM COHEN 2, the sequel to TIM COHEN’S AMAZING ADVENTURES IN CARDBOARD BOX TIME TRAVEL is available HERE.

THE DEATH OF BILLIE BROWN - A FORMING MOVIE should be done by the end of this month. This film is a prequel to my film THE FORMING. It explains how the character in the first film came to dwell in the house that “forms” him.

As I said above, this year is starting off in a very interesting way. However, to paraphrase Ian MacKaye, you can’t stop progression. This gives me hopes for the future. Click HERE to listen to the interview.

In the Writer's Corner...

I’ve started a new series of books for Saddleback Publishing! It is filled with sci-fi and scary tales and I just LOVE writing it. Also, it looks like they are going to have me write some other books as well. I am beyond lucky and grateful to them!

The script for NIGHT HIKE is going great. I am also going to be starting another script as well. It is my goal to write 2-4 scripts this year.
