Hello!
August is here. This is the month of my birth. I turn 40 on August 13. It is amazing to think that I am 40. I look back on things like the 1980s and it doesn't seem like it was that long ago. The youth I speak with today look at the 1980s the way I looked at the 1950s. I guess it makes sense. With any luck I will double this birthday and get some more years after that. In some ways I feel I have accomplished some modest things, in other ways I feel like I am just getting started.

In The Writer's Corner…
Still working on a new outline for Nasser Entertainment. We have a solid idea it's just the fleshing out of that idea that is proving problematic. I am about to start scripting another micro-budget film that I will be directing for them.
My writing of SCREAMING QUIETLY has led me to write a guest post for the website SpecialNeedsBookReview.com. The book is out and you can order it here.
INSECT is at 50 pages. Above is a new still from the movie! The main character Reggie (Nik Hill) is sleeping in his brother Don's (Isaac Golub) bedroom. By the middle of this month INSECT will be at 70. At that point my foot will come off the gas a little bit for this project. I will still work on it everyday, I will just be taking my time as I animate the last 24 pages. I should have those done by Thanksgiving but it might be sooner. This would mean that the editing would start sooner and it will be out earlier in 2014.
I am shooting DV2 this month for CINEMA EPOCH as they have expressed an interest in distributing the sequel. I am also going to put a quick rewrite on a sci-fi script called DOPPLEGANGER that I hope to direct for them.

I am currently working on a new outline for Nasser Entertainment. Also, trying to get a new micro budget feature together with them. I should have both of these ideas worked out by the end of this month.
SCREAMING QUIETLY comes out this month. You can order it here or from the publisher, Saddleback Press. I turned in a new book to them last month titled, AS IF IT WERE NEVER DONE. Waiting to here back on that regarding the rewrites.
I finished and turned in my adaption of the book Dragonman. I got my notes and I am about to start the second rewrite.
INSECT has 30 pages currently drawn. It is my goal to have 70 pages drawn by the end of August.
Once that happens, I plan to start writing a lot more scripts. My goal is to write one every 2 months. I have written scripts in a week's time so 2 months for a script (including a rewrite or 3!) isn't out of the realm of possibility.
I might be doing a science fiction film for CINEMA EPOCH. By that I mean, writing and directing it. I am currently seeing if one of my earlier scripts, titled DOPPLEGANGER, can be adapted into a very contained, minimalistic film.

It looks like I might be directing another micro-budget film for Nasser Entertainment. We are still working out the storyline but things are looking good.

The LADY AND THE CHAMP rewrite has been put on hold as I adapt the book DRAGONMAN. The adaptation is going great and I should be done with it by the end of this month. Then I will finish LADY AND THE CHAMP and take it to prospective producers.
It is my goal to get INSECT drawn by the end of August. I am about 20 pages into to animating it. Once I get going I am sure it will get done quickly.
I am about to turn in the deliverables for the DV release. It will contain my film WATCHING A MOVIE as a bonus features. Both of these films will be available in 3D! They will even come with blue and red glasses to watch them in.

In the Writer's Corner…
Recently turned in a new script to Nasser Entertainment. They have a really strong track record of getting things made. Here's hoping that this script falls in line with that! If not… I am sure that we will do another one that does.
I got the agreement for the book I was asked to adapt. I asked for some minor changes. In lieu of getting those changes, I outlined the book so that once the agreement comes back to me I can get started on the script.
Saddleback Press recently informed me that SCREAMING QUIETLY is going to be in all Barnes & Noble stores! For somebody who has been writing since he was 8, I am greatly humbled by this. I have begun work on another book for Saddleback that is currently titled AS IF IT WAS NEVER DONE.
I am doing a lot better on the LADY AND THE CHAMP rewrite. It is coming together. By this time next month it should be 80% done.
Above is another image from INSECT. I am chugging along on this project. You can see one-angle of one of the scenes here. This scene will obviously be re-edited for the movie with close-ups, back and forth shots and other coverage.
My young adult fiction book DOWN FOR HIS CRIMES is basically done. It will be out later this month it seems! Then it is on to AS IF IT WERE NEVER DONE as well as a bunch of other books. There is also going to be a Ronni's Books blogspot site very soon.
The DV release is slowly chugging along. Hopefully, I will have more to write this about next month.

At present I am about 40 something pages into a new script for Nasser Entertainment. It is a bit different than anything I have written. I am looking forward to seeing what happens with it.
I was recently asked to adapt a book into a screenplay. Basically, I met a producer in a bar in Las Vegas. He and I got to talking and I told him I am would love to write something for him. He contacted me recently about a book his friend wrote. I read the book and now I am just waiting for an agreement so I can get started on the adaptation.
I am currently finishing up a new outline for Saddleback Press. It is for a book tentatively titled, AS IF IT WERE NEVER DONE. Once this outline is approved the writing will commence. Above is the cover for the first book I did for them. It is titled SCREAMING QUIETLY. Click the images to order!
Sadly, I have had to slow up on the LADY AND THE CHAMP rewrite because I have other projects that have to take precedence.
I have basically animated the first ten pages of INSECT. I am presently on Spring Break and I hope to get another 5 more drawn. We will see… I am really going to work hard to finish the animation portion of the movie by the end of Summer.
My book DOWN FOR HIS CRIMES which will now, most likely, be titled SEEKER, is done and I am about to start rewriting it. I did a version of the cover but due to a technical glitch I need to redo it. With the outline for AS IF IT WAS NEVER DONE almost completed, I am on pace to meet (and maybe exceed) my self-imposed 4 books a year delivery schedule for Ronni's Books. Eventually, it will be 8 books a year… and hopefully 12 at some point.
DV looks like it will be getting a self-release sometime in the next 2 months. You can find out more about it here.

In The Writer's Corner…
Currently working on a new outline for another project with Nasser Entertainment. I am grateful that they are always giving me opportunities.
I turned in the rewrite of the SHADOW screenplay. It was very well received. Now it is just a matter of casting the movie and shooting the extra scenes that need to be shot. I am very excited about this.
SCREAMING QUIETLY is done as far as I can tell. I will be posting the cover for it next month. They were also very receptive to my outline for another book! So… it looks like we'll be doing another one together.
The LADY AND THE CHAMP rewrite is moving along solidly. My plan is still to have it done in the next 2 months.
I am really going to ramp up my work on INSECT. My plan now is to have a rough cut of it done by August. Should that prove to be too hard, I at least want to have it animated (and editing started) by then.
My first book, DOWN FOR HIS CRIMES, under my self imposed "4 books a year" doctrine is about half way done. I am going to start working on the cover and it should be out in the next couple of months. Then it is on to the next one.

Try as I might the new months keep starting and I keep forgetting to post the news. I am going to do my best to shake this habit.

I believe DISTANT SHORE shoots in March.
I am currently shooting ideas back and forth with the development folks at NASSER ENTERTAINMENT we are looking to get another film going.
I am also rewriting the SHADOW script for them. There are plans afoot to reshoot and add some stuff. I have never made a movie at this level so it is interesting how the process works.
I am about to turn in the 5th draft of my young adult fiction book SCREAMING QUIETLY to Saddleback Press. I am also outlining a new book for them as well.
Still rewriting LADY AND THE CHAMP. It is slow in the going but it should be completed within the next 2 months.
INSECT is also moving along but at a snail's pace. I should have the first 10 pages (of the 94 page script) drawn soon. Eventually, my work rate on this project will get more intense and that is when it will be completed.
Outlined a new book titled DOWN FOR HIS CRIMES that I plan to write. It is the first of many books that will be 25,000 words, written quickly, and released in hardcopy and the digital form from my imprint RONNI'S BOOKS. My plan is to do 4 books a year.
The quickie horror film I made, DV, will be finished with editing by the end of this month. It will now be available on DVD and VOD by the end of March. For more information on it please visit:
